John F. "Jack" Kundert age 81 of Monroe, died Wednesday, November 28, 2012 after a brief stay at Agrace Hospice Care in Fitchburg, WI. Jack was born September 10, 1931 in Madison, the son of the late Dr. Fred W. and Alice (Jensen) Kundert. He graduated from Monroe High School in 1949 and furthered his education at Madison Business College and the Stonier Graduate School of Banking at Rutgers University. Jack and Marian (Signer) were married September 7, 1952 at St. John's United Church of Christ, Monroe. He served in the finance department of the U.S. Army for two years and returned to Monroe where he began his career at the Commercial and Savings Bank. Following his retirement in January, 1995, Jack served as Secretary for the Wisconsin Department of Financial Institutions for 3 years.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Marian Kundert of Monroe; three children, Kirsten Dobson (Bob Gordee) of Waukesha, Fred (Deb) Kundert of Freeport, IL, and John (Laura) Kundert of Monroe; four grandchildren, Elizabeth Kundert, James Kundert, John Dobson, Allison Kundert; and a step-grandson, Adam Gordee.

Jack was an active member of the Monroe community. He served as Chamber of Commerce President in 1965 and was instrumental in bringing various industries to Monroe. He was on the board of directors of Greenco Industries, Wisconsin Banking Association (past president), Green County YMCA Foundation, served on the American Bankers Association Council, National Director of the Jaycees, and was active in St. John's United Church of Christ. Jack also held offices in Kiwanis, Red Cross, United Fund, Easter Seals, Green County Historical Society, and the Monroe Business Improvement District. Jack enjoyed spending time at his lake house, traveling with the Madison Ski Club, and was a member of the Monroe and Stoughton country clubs.

A celebration of Jack's life will be held on Saturday, December 8, 2012, at 2:00 p.m. at St. John's United Church of Christ, Monroe, with Reverend William "Mike" Heath officiating. Private burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Monroe. Visitation will be held at the church on Friday, December 7, from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. and on Saturday from 1:00 p.m. until the time of services. In lieu of flowers memorials are suggested in Jack's name to Monroe Swiss Singers or Turner Hall. The Newcomer Funeral Home, Monroe, is assisting the family.
