John E. "Jack" Owens, age 90, of Monroe, Wisconsin, formerly of Albany, died Friday, May 29, 2009 at his home. He was born January 24, 1919 at Coal Valley, Pennsylvania, the son of Oliver and Mary (Felecitti) Owens and graduated from Clairton High School in 1937.
John and LaVerne L. Erickson were married June 25, 1944 at Austin, Texas. John served in aircraft maintenance in the U.S. Air Force and worked at O'Hare Field in Chicago for the Department of Defense. He was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church, former member of Albany Lions Club, and Albany Senior Citizens.
Surviving are his wife, LaVerne Owens of Monroe, WI; daughters, Sherry (John) Hlavachek of Albany, WI and Nancy (Jack) Beschta of Oregon, WI; grandsons, Shane (Jennifer) Hlavachek of Albany, WI, Ty (Becky) Hlavachek of Big Lake, MN, Kurt (Kristina) Krueger of Evansville, WI, Craig (Shannon) Krueger of Albany, WI; several step-grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his parents; two brothers; and six sisters.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be at noon Monday, June 1, 2009 at St. PATRICK'S CATHOLIC CHURCH in Albany, WI with Rev. Michael Moon, celebrating. Burial will follow in St. Patrick's Catholic Cemetery in Albany.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until noon Monday at the Church.
Memorials to Monroe Clinic Hospice or Albany Community Scholarship Foundation in John's memory would be appreciated.
