John A. Quirk, age 83 of Monroe, died Saturday, April 11, 2009 at Pleasant View Nursing Home, Monroe. John was born February 8, 1926 in Beloit, the son of Henry A. and Julia E. Quirk. John worked at the Monroe Hospital for many years and was an active member of St. Victor Catholic Church.
He is survived by one brother, Terry (Fran) Quirk of Addison, IL and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; eight sisters, Joann Quirk, Catherine Quirk, Pearl Brewer, Mary Ellen Poole, Sister Mona Quirk, C.S.A., Patricia A. Quirk, Margaret Pringle, and Sister Catherine Ann Quirk, C.S.A.; and three brothers, Paul, Jerome, and Ned Quirk.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, April 14, 2009, at St. Victor Catholic Church in Monroe with Monsignor Thomas Campion officiating. Burial will at 2 p.m. on Tuesday at Calvary Cemetery, Beloit, WI. A visitation will be held at the church on Saturday from 10 a.m. until the time of service. A memorial fund will be established in John's name for the Apostolate to the Handicapped. The Newcomer Funeral Home, Monroe, is assisting the family.
