BELLEVILLE/VERONA - Jerry D. Rear, age 72, of rural Belleville, passed away on Friday, October 2, 2009 at St. Mary's Hospital in Madison following an extended illness. He was born on March 4, 1937 in Madison to his parents, Clifford and Beulah (Hanson) Rear. Jerry graduated from Belleville High School in 1955. On May 3, of 1958 he was united in marriage to his high school sweetheart, Audrey Northwick, at the Swiss Reformed Church in Belleville. Jerry was a dedicated and lifelong dairy farmer. He was a confirmed member of the Primrose Lutheran Church, and was a past president of the church council and member of the cemetery association. Jerry also served on the Town of Montrose board for two terms. Jerry was an avid sports fan and player; he played for the Belleville home talent team and the Wednesday night slow pitch league, and was an ever faithful St. Louis Cardinals fan. He also enjoyed attending his grandchildren's many activities.

Jerry is survived by his wife, Audrey Rear of Belleville; two sons, Van (Kim) Rear of Belleville and Kent (Marsha) Rear of Belleville; a daughter, Kari (David) Ace of Belleville; eight grandchildren: Jordyn, Griffin, Quinn, Jared, and Karlyn Rear and Abbey, Olivia, and Andrew Ace; a sister, Belva Austin of Belleville; sisters-in-law, Doris Rear Hustad and Shirley Kelliher; a brother-in-law, Kermeth Northwick; and many special nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two infant children; a sister, Clarice Bredeson; and a brother, Clifford Rear Jr.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, October 5, 2009 at the Primrose Lutheran Church, 8770 Ridge Dr., Belleville, WI, with the Rev. Nicole Espe officiating with burial in the Primrose East Cemetery.

Relatives and friends may call from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Sunday, October 4, 2009 at the Becker-Beal Funeral Home, 109 Greenway Cross, Belleville, WI.

In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established.
