Jeanette R. Schlichting, age 93, of Redwood City, CA; formerly of Monroe, died on Monday, September 8, 2014 at All Saints Assisted Living in Madison. Jeanette was born on July 6, 1921 in Freeport, IL; the daughter of James and Marquerite (Doll) Hughes. She graduated from Stockton High School and attended Business School. Jeanette married Jack E. Schlichting on September 15, 1942 in Stockton, IL.
Jeanette was a legal secretary in Monroe, prior to moving to Redwood City, CA where she became an administrative secretary for Casa de Redwood.
Jeanette enjoyed sewing, playing bridge, traveling and was a member of Altar & Rosary Society and Womens club.
Jeanette is survived by her daughters, JoAnn (Randy) Smith of Madison; Jan Schlichting of Milwaukee; Janine (Dana) Jaster of DeForest, WI; brother, Eugene Hughes of Elkhart, IN; sister, Sylvia (Rich) Rupnow of Monroe; 11 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She is predeceased by her parents, husband, Jack, son, Jay, and sister, Thelma Clancy.
A Memorial Mass will be held on Tuesday, September 30, 2014 at St. Clare of Assisi Parish at 11:00 a.m. at St. Victors Catholic Church 1760 14th Street in Monroe with Fr. Michael E. Klarer as celebrant.
A visitation will be Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until time of service at the church.
