Janice C. Patchin, 77, formerly of Platteville, WI, went to be with the Lord on June 4, 2010. She was at home, surrounded by her husband and all of her children, when she passed away.

She was born on January 19, 1933, to Homer and Hazel (Hansen) Scott in Platteville. She graduated from Platteville High School in 1951. In 1953 she married Albert E. Patchin and they began a 56-year journey together. They built a life that will continue to leave a legacy of love.

For years she was actively involved in the First English Lutheran Church where among many things, she served as Junior Choir Director and Camp Indian Sands Counselor. Later, Jan and Al found a home at Community Evangelical Free Church. Christ was the center of her life and the inspiration for who she was.

Her family was her passion. She sewed costumes, served family meals that often included friends, and was called mom by many. She supported music in the schools and passed her love of music on to her children. She was a pianist and church soloist. Munga (her pet name) is the creator of a space affectionately known by her grandchildren as the Chucker's Club. Jan was a Water Street neighborhood mom who opened her home and her heart to everyone. She loved beyond measure.

Jan loved animals, especially the family dog Patches. Most of all, she loved spending time with her grandchildren, the Chicky Foot crew, Cal and Thelma, her high school buddy Cheree, Pat and Roger, Jeff Martin and many other family and friends. First and foremost, she loved her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Janice is survived by her husband, Albert, of Monroe, WI; her 5 children, Scott (Maxine) of Black Earth, Nadine (Troy) Whiteman of Monroe, Craig (Tammy) of Monroe, Tracy (Dave) Bristow of Monroe, Lisa (Dave) Parker of Brandon, FL; her grandchildren, Kari Faber (Darek), Jerod Patchin (Shawna), Brenna Patchin/Sanchez (John), Anna Whiteman, Amy Whiteman, Bethany Torode, Christy Barker (Marshall), Kelsey Visel (Kevin), Micah Patchin, Adair Bristow, Callie Bristow, Aaron Bristow, Chelsea M. Parker, Peyton Parker, Whitney Parker, Chelsey J. Parker, Jack and Jasper; 10 great-grandchildren; and brother and sister-in-law, Sheldon and Dorothy Scott of Platteville.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at noon on Tuesday, June 8, at Community Evangelical Free Church in Platteville. Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery, Platteville. Friends may call from 10 a.m. until time of service Tuesday at the church. The Melby Bendorf Funeral Home, 1245 N. Water St., Platteville, is serving the family.

Gifts in memory of Janice's life will be used to provide assistance to the Hospice Program at the Monroe Clinic.
