Janet J. Brunkow, 72, of Monroe, died peacefully on Wednesday, November 25, 2009, at Pleasant View Nursing Home with her family by her side. Janet was born August 28, 1937, in Chicago, IL., the daughter of Gerald and Norma L. (Hovey) Kripner. She graduated from Parker High School in Chicago. Janet married Laurence Moisan in 1969. They moved to Browntown in 1980, and Laurence died in 1995. On September 20, 1997, Janet and Robert W. Brunkow were united in marriage at Mt. Olive Evangelical Lutheran Church in Monroe, where she was an active member.

Janet loved spending time with her family and enjoyed crossword puzzles, cooking, traveling and flower gardening. Her main joy was ceramics, which she taught at her home for several years. She is survived by her husband, Robert W. Brunkow of Monroe; five sons, Terrence (Gail) Moisan, Laurence Moisan Jr., Joseph (Terri) Moisan, Dennis Moisan (Tonya Noble), and Gerald Moisan; six grandchildren, Kristen, Connie, Gregory, Brianne Moisan (Tim Wolf), Heather Ashby, and Courtney Moisan; four step-children, Daniel Brunkow, Christine (Andrew) Schmidt, David Brunkow (Janet Werren), and Cathy (Jim) Crubaugh; step-grandchildren, Allison and Joe Crubaugh, Andrew Schmidt (Ashley Smith), and Aaron Schmidt; sister, Geraldine White; brother, Thomas Kripner; sister-in-law, Kate Updike; and brother-in-law, Herb Johnson. She was preceded in death by her parents and a daughter, Lynn Ashby.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, December 1, 2009, at Mount Olive Evangelical Lutheran Church, Monroe, with Pastor Donald Swartz officiating. Interment will follow in Michael Cemetery, Cadiz Township. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at the NEWCOMER FUNERAL HOME.
