Jan Hawk passed away peacefully to the arms of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Sunday, January 31, 2010, after a brief stay at Pleasant View Nursing Home after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born March 31, 1954 in Oregon, Illinois, the daughter of Shirley and Vernon Woodruff.
Jan spent most of her adult life in Pennsylvania and New Jersey and then a few years in Florida. Jan is survived by her son, Jeff Boyden, of Oregon, Illinois; daughter, Amanda Boyden-Newell; grandchildren, Christina Boyden and Zackery Newell and a great-granddaughter, Kyra Boyden of Pennsylvania; two sisters, Gail Arbogast (Duane) of Oregon, Illinois and Diane Woodruff of California and nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents and her beloved Joseph.
Jan moved to Monroe in 2007 and touched many lives here during her brief stay in this area with her valiant spirit and kind and generous heart. She had a powerful faith in her Heavenly Father and relied on His love and strength to get her through the struggles she has had with her health. She was always upbeat and had a kind word and encouragement for everyone she met right to the end. She will be greatly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her sweet and generous spirit.
A Memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, February 6th at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints at 714 24th Street in Monroe.
