James "Jim" Bergemann died Tuesday, December 30, 2008 in Omaha, NE of injuries he received in an auto accident on December 22. James Steven Bergemann was born on December 10, 1976, in Monroe, WI, to Terri J. Treuthardt and Steven R. Bergemann. Jim attended Monroe schools and graduated in 1995 from Monroe High School. Jim worked several area jobs before moving to western Iowa where he was a welder for Brown Behre Co. in Corning. He also knew the trade of carpentry taught to him by his "Dad" Dick Reynolds. He was part of the Capstone Project in 1995.
Jim volunteered as a firefighter for Browntown, Woodford and Argyle Fire Departments and was an EMT with Argyle-Adams EMS. Jim was also a member of the Iowa National Guard.
He was well traveled in his life, taking several trips by semi with his Grandpa Walt throughout his childhood and as a teenager. He traveled many western states and Canadian provinces getting as far north as the Yukon Territory. His hobbies included his vast passion for trains, both real and models; comedy in all forms; an avid fan of Star Trek: The Next Generation; military history and motorcycling.
Jim is survived by his children, Jacob and MacKenzie Bergemann, Traverse City, MI; his mother, Terri (Richard) Reynolds, Monroe; his father, Steve (Cindy) Bergemann, Monroe; his brothers, Chad Bergemann, Monroe, and Nick Michaelis, Menasha; grandparents, Joyce Bergemann, Walt Treuthardt, Judy Treuthardt and Mary Kay Wehinger, all of Monroe and his best buds, Harley and Buddy. Jim is also survived by his uncles, Gordon (Ruth) Bergemann and family, Mark Treuthardt, and Dave (Denise) Treuthardt and family; his aunt, Sandra Treuthardt and family; several great aunts and uncles, cousins and many friends, including his childhood friends: Brian Engesser, Quentin Hauri and Doug Waelti. He also leaves his wife Tracy and her children in Red Oak.
He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Roy Bergemann; his brother, Kim Liddicoat; his great-grandmother, Edna Lindsay; and his beloved beagle, Snoopy.
Funeral services with military rites were held in Red Oak on January 5, 2009. Interment was in Evergreen Cemetery, Red Oak.
A memorial service will be held from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, January 17, 2009 at the Moose Lodge, 639 3rd Avenue in Monroe. All friends and family are invited to attend. A memorial fund will be established for Jim's children, Jacob and Mackenzie.
