BRODHEAD - James L. Borgmann, age 96, of Brodhead, passed away on Saturday, December 20, 2014, at his home. He was born on February 7, 1918 in German Valley, IL, the son of Herman and Clara (Westerman) Borgmann. He married Helen Grove on October 11, 1940 in Davenport, IA. She passed away on June 28, 2006.
Jim had farmed in Leaf River, IL, German Valley, IL, and Durand, IL, for 20 years, also having worked for W.F. & John Barnes of Rockford, IL for 6 years. Jim was also an independent painter until his retirement in 1990. He was a member of executive committee of New England Grange, serving as a Master for 5 years, a member of the Davis Calvary Methodist Church, serving as Chairman of the Board of Trustees for 3 years, and a Moose Lodge member for 14 years.
He is survived by his children, Gale (Cindy) Borgmann, Oshkosh, WI, Tim (Mona) Borgmann, New Glarus, WI, Jan (Etta Pruitt) Borgmann, New London, NC; former daughter-in-law, Sue Borgmann, Monroe, WI; 8 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren; and special friends, Beverly Hazeltine and Lois Tearman. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, brothers, Garhart, Joe, John, Herman, Clarence and Elmer Borgmann; and sisters, Annetta Baal, Etta Donker and Jenny Klapp.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, December 23, 2014, at the D.L. NEWCOMER FUNERAL HOME, BRODHEAD, WI, with Pastor Jim Ketzel officiating.
