Iva Kohl, age 97 of Monroe, died Friday, March 4, 2016 at Pleasant View Nursing Home. Iva was born April 10, 1918 in Winslow, IL, the daughter of Louis P. and Irene (Howe) Rabe. She married Leo C. Kohl on September 8, 1937 at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa and moved to Monroe in 1940. She was a member of the Monroe United Methodist Church and former member of the Monroe Eagles Club Auxiliary. Iva was a generous, wonderful mother and grandmother who enjoyed various types of handiwork especially quilting. She also enjoyed tending to her garden, irises, daffodils, and other flowers.

She is survived by three daughters, Nancy (John) Schultz of Gratiot, Shirley Drake of Folsom, CA, and Kathryn (Bill) Greenwood of Okemos, MI; a son-in-law, David Wyss of Monroe; five grandchildren, Karen (Bob) McConaghy of Phoenix, AZ, Greg Klentz of Folsom, CA, Kevin (Kim) Klentz of Roseville, CA, Randy (Carol) Wyss of Monroe, Michelle (Terry) Ellwanger of Beloit; two grandsons-in-law, Denny Lewey of Monroe, and Greg Markham of Germantown; nine great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Leo, on Sept. 24, 1981; a daughter, Joan Wyss; two granddaughters, Lynn Wyss and Staci Markham; and a son-in-law, Donald Drake.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, March 10, 2016, at 11:00 a.m., at the Newcomer Funeral Home, Monroe, with Reverend Randy Booth officiating. Interment will follow in Greenwood Cemetery, Monroe. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. A memorial fund will be established in Iva's name for the Monroe United Methodist Church. Condolences may be sent at www.newcomerfuneralhome.net.
