Iris I. Wilkins age 99 of Monroe, Wisconsin formerly of Elizabeth, Illinois, died Tuesday, November 9, 2010 at Monroe Clinic Hospital. She was born August 20, 1911 in Elizabeth, IL, the daughter of William and Frances Daisy (Mosely) Matthews. Her greatest joys were her Savior the Lord Jesus Christ, her family, singing, piano playing, football, politics, and world events.
She was the beloved mother of Mary Lou (Jim) Straight of Monroe, WI and daughter-in-law, Judy Wilkins of Reno, NV. She was the grandmother of Tina (Scott) Hatchett of Whitewater, WI, Jennifer (Randy) Straight Bowen of Monroe, WI, Jody Wilkins of NV, Cory Wilkins of CA, Tracy Wilkins Berry of NV, & Tammy Wilkins of NV. She was the great-grandmother of 12 children and the great-great-grandmother of four children. She was preceded in death by her husband, Clinton D. Wilkins formerly of Freeport, IL in 1993 and her beloved son, David Wilkins formerly of Reno, NV in 1997.
Per her request, there will be no visitation or funeral. A celebration of her life was held by her family at her hospital bedside thru scripture, prayer, and song.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to her family at 2316-13th Street in Monroe, WI. The family was gracefully assisted by the Shriner-Hager-Gohlke Funeral Home.
