Inez Irene Schild, age 85 of Monroe died Sunday, July 19, 2015 at Graceland Manor in Monroe. Mrs. Ralph Schild (Inez I. Broege) was born on November 28, 1929 at the home farm on County B in Browntown, the daughter of William F. and Hattie (Smith) Broege. She attended Crosby Rural School and graduated from South Wayne High School in 1947. She attended The Madison School of Beauty Culture and worked for the Peggy Trickel Salon until her marriage to Ralph Schild on February 27, 1949 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Monroe by the Rev. Paul Kehli. In 1951 Inez and Ralph returned to her family farm where they remained until retiring and moving to South Wayne in 1991. Inez was active in the Green County Boots and Saddle Club serving as Secretary for 9 years, a member of the Pecatonica Bit and Spur Saddle Club of South Wayne, and the Green County Mounted Patrol. Inez had a passion for showing and raising Morgan horses, won several trophies and ribbons, and judged many horse shows. In her later years she did craft work and helped her husband with his woodworking. She became an associated member of the South Wayne United Methodist Church. Inez moved to Graceland Manor in 2009.

She is survived by her sister, Evelyn Casmer of Tennessee; nieces; nephews; close friends, Diana and Roger Krebs; and her kitty, Puddy. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ralph, in 2007; and an infant brother, Melvin.

Graveside services will be held on Wednesday, July 22, 2015, at 11:00 a.m., at the La Due Cemetery on Mayer Road in Wayne Township, Lafayette County. If you would like to donate in Inez' name, all money will be given to ENAH (Everyone Needs a Home). This foundation helps feed and find homes for cats and dogs and is run by Peggy Miller of South Wayne. Inez loved animals with all her heart. The Newcomer Funeral Home, Monroe, is assisting the family.
