Idellis P. McKillip, age 89 of Monroe, died Saturday, January 7, 2017 at her home, surrounded by her family. She was born on May 21, 1927 in Wiota Township, the daughter of Herman and Myrtle (Thorson) Halvorson. Idellis married Walter W. McKillip on April 27, 1946 in Darlington. She worked at Burgess Battery in Freeport for 14 years. She was a member of St. Johns United Church of Christ and she enjoyed cooking, baking and doing needlework.
She is survived by her husband, Walter of Monroe; son, Terry (Chris) McKillip of Rockford; a daughter, Barbara (Ray) Shearer of Kalamazoo, MI; 10 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren, and one due in April; 2 great great grandchildren; a brother, Clinton (Pauline) Halvorson of Darlington; 2 sisters, Melva (Henry) Tschanz of Monroe, and Jeaneen (Bob) Benson of Darlington; sister-in-law, Sharon Halvorson of Darlington; other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Gary; 4 brothers: Sylvester, Edward, and Eldon Halvorson; and a brother in infancy; and a sister, Arlene Heins.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Wednesday, January 11, 2017 at SHRINER HAGER GOHLKE Funeral Home, with Reverend Kathleen Rinear officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood cemetery. A visitation will be held from 10:00 am until the time of service.
