MONTICELLO - Hulda A. Rieder, age 81 of New Glarus, formerly of Monticello, died Tuesday, June 9, 2009 at the New Glarus Home. Hulda was born March 15, 1928 in Dodgeville, Wisconsin, the daughter of John and Alice (Rikli) Aeschliman.
She graduated from Monroe High School in 1946 and married Frederick Rieder on June 19, 1948.
Hulda and her husband farmed in and around the Monroe area until moving to Monticello in 1979. She was a resident of Monticello until she entered the New Glarus Home in 2005.
She was a member of the Zwingli United Church of Christ and was a member of their choir for over thirty years. Hulda enjoyed spending time with her family and doing various homemaking activities.
Hulda is survived by her husband, Fritz, a resident of the New Glarus Home; a son, Paul (Sue) Rieder of Albany; two granddaughters, Heidi (Eric) Kassebaum of Palm Coast, FL and Lacey (Dave Stoerp and son, Chase) Rieder of Monroe; a brother, John (Phyllis) Aeschliman Jr. of Albany; and a sister, Pearl (Dan) Teetzen of Waunakee, Wisconsin.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Jane Rieder in 1965; and two sisters, Evelyn Babler and Ruth Aeschliman.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, June 12, 2009, at the New Glarus Home Chapel with Rev. Lawrence Balleine of the Zwingli United Church of Christ officiating. Interment will be in Highland Cemetery, Monticello. A visitation will be held at the New Glarus Home Chapel from noon until the time of services Friday. A memorial fund will be established in Hulda's name for the Zwingli United Church of Christ. The VOEGELI-NEWCOMER FUNERAL HOME, Monticello, is assisting the family.
