Hildegard I. "Hilda" Hinderman, age 81 of Monroe, WI, formerly of Darlington, WI, passed away Monday, April 20, 2015 at Pleasant View Nursing Home in Monroe. She was born September 15, 1933 in Grant County, WI, the daughter of Henry and Mary (Stuer) Schaefer. Hilda was united in marriage to Edward W. Hinderman on April 23, 1952 at Holy Ghost Catholic Church in Dickeyville, WI. She farmed with her husband in the Darlington area until retiring to Shullsburg in 1984. In 1990, they moved to Monroe where she has resided since.
Hilda is survived by four sons: David (Pam) Hinderman, Mark Hinderman, Alan (Julie) Hinderman all of Darlington and Kevin (Jane) Hinderman of Pulaski, WI; three daughters: Mary C. (Edward) Lorge of Elkhorn, WI, Kathleen (David) Minder of Browntown, WI, and Katherine (Jeffery) Falk of Monroe; one brother: Homer (Celine) Schaefer of Fennimore, WI; three sisters: Margaret Dalsing of Dubuque, IA, Dolores Pickle of Platteville, WI, and Genevieve Biba of Kenosha, WI; two sisters-in-law: Rita Schaefer and Bernadine Schaefer both of Platteville; one brother-in-law: Cecil Hinderman of Dickeyville, WI; 18 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband on April 7, 2009; one son: Dorrence Hinderman in 1976; and two brothers: Jerome Schaefer and Elmer Schaefer.
Hilda was a long time member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church and its Council of Catholic Women. Her family will always remember her for playing Bingo with them, her competitive nature while playing Euchre, and for her memorable homemade pies. Hilda was a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. She will be sadly missed and fondly remembered by her family and friends.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, April 24, 2015 at 11:30 A.M. at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, (104 East Harriet Street, Darlington). Burial will be held at Holy Rosary Cemetery in Darlington. A visitation will be held Thursday, April 23, 2015 from 4:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at Erickson Funeral Home (508 Main St, Darlington) where a Rosary will be prayed at 4:00 P.M. and at the church on Friday from 10:30 A.M. until the time of service.
