Helen R. Hiltbrand age 91 of Monroe, died Tuesday, December 17, 2013 at Pleasant View Nursing Home, Monroe. Helen was born October 16, 1922 in Washington Township, Green County, the daughter of John and Elisa (Teuscher) Minnig. She attended Loveland Rural School and married Ernest Hiltbrand on January 21, 1948 in Verona. The couple farmed for a few years in Barneveld before moving to Washington Township where they farmed for many years. Helen was a member of Zwingli United Church of Christ in Monticello, Zwingli Aid, and the Washington Homemakers.
She is survived by her daughter, Susan Hiltbrand of Monroe; two sisters-in-law, Eleanor Hiltbrand and Esther Mae Hiltbrand, both of Mt. Horeb; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Ernest, on Feb. 21, 1994; two sisters, Olga Strahm and Pauline Voegeli; and a brother, Walter Minnig.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, December 20, 2013, at 11:00 a.m., at the Zwingli United Church, Monticello, with Rev. Lawrence Balleine officiating. Interment will follow in Highland Cemetery, Monticello. Visitation will be at the church on Thursday from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. A memorial fund will be established in Helen's name for Zwingli U.C.C.
