Helen R. Altman, age 96, died Sunday, March 15, 2009 at Pleasant View Nursing Home. She was born on October 12, 1912 in Jordan Township; the daughter of Joe and Rosa (Neuenschwander) Altman. Helen graduated from Monroe High School in 1930. She worked as a legal secretary for 40 years at Regez-Johnson-Calahan law office.

She was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ and its Mary Circle. She also belonged to the Rebbecca Lodge, the Alpha Zeta Chapter of Epsilon Sigma Alpha and the Monroe Senior Center. Helen was a volunteer at the hospital since 1981.

She is survived by several cousins and many friends.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 17, 2009 at Friedensheim Chapel. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Monroe. Shriner-Hager-Gohlke Funeral Home is assisting the family.
