Heidi Louise Maxwell, age 58 of Monroe, died Thursday, December 30, 2010 at her home. She had been a cancer patient for the last five years.
Heidi was born on November 14, 1952 in La Junta, Colorado, the daughter of Elward and Lorene (Hoesly) Benzel.
Heidi graduated from Belvidere, IL schools, studied art at University of South Florida in Tampa, and was certified as a medical coder at MATC in Monroe.
She loved God's creation, art, camping, horseback riding, swimming, spending time with her grandson and friends from Florida, Belvidere, and Monroe.
She is survived by her mother, Sis Benzel; a son, Jon Maxwell; daughter, Jocelyn (David) Greene, her grandson, Jordan Maxwell; a brother, Don Benzel; Aunt, Olga Hoesly; and several cousins. She was preceded in death by her grandparents; her father; uncle, Robert Hoesly; and cousin, Barb Leib.
Memorial services will be held on Thursday, January 6, 2011, at 11:00 a.m., at the First Presbyterian Church, Belvidere, IL, with Rev. Dr. Bob Kopp officiating. Visitation will be at the church from 10:00 a.m. until time of service. In lieu of flowers memorials may be given in Heidi's name to Monroe Clinic Hospice or to a fund to be established.
