Hedwig "Hedy" Deininger, age 93 of Oregon, formerly of Monroe, died Tuesday, June 14, 2016 at Sienna Crest Assisted Living in Oregon. She was born on September 23, 1922 to Anna (Amacher) and John Brunner. Hedy was the only child of the couple born in the United States, as her family immigrated from Switzerland in the early 1900's. She graduated from Monroe High School in 1940, and worked at several local businesses, including Solomon Auto Parts Company, Monroe Cheese Producers Inc. and Trumpy Cheese Inc.
She married Nathan Deininger on March 11, 1949 at St. John's United Church of Christ in Monroe. They farmed on Middle Juda Road, just east of town, until 1974, when they moved into the City of Monroe.
Hedy was a Sunday school teacher at St. John's United Church of Christ, a Girl Scout leader, and sewing teacher for the Richland 4-H Club. She was a passionate seamstress and made many of her clothes throughout her life. She also took an active role in managing the "clothes closet", through the church, helping distribute donated clothing to those in need.
She is survived by her three children: Carol Schuler of McFarland, WI, Jan (Gary) Stern of McFarland, WI, and John (Kris) Deininger of Oregon, WI; five grandchildren: Katie Schuler (Egor Korneev) of Madison, Beth Schuler (Jordan Scott) of Madison, Alison (Dan) Beilke of Oregon, WI, Casey Stern (Kristen Burke) of Chicago, and Sara Stern of Chicago; one great-grandchild, Aubrey Beilke of Oregon, WI.
She was predeceased by her parents; sister, Gertrude Liechty; brother, Ernest Brunner; her husband, Nathan passed away in 1994, and she lived independently in Monroe until her move to Oregon, WI in 2013, to be closer to her children.
She was loved by all and will be greatly missed. A special "Thank You" goes out to the staff of Sienna Crest in Oregon, and Agrace Hospice of Fitchburg.
A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, June 25, 2016 at the St. John's Garden Apartments Chapel with Rev. Tiff Bates officiating. Visitation will be held from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service. Shriner-Hager-Gohlke Funeral Home is assisting the family.
