Harvey M. Hartwig age 85, of Monroe, WI, formerly of Argyle, WI passed away Saturday, February 4, 2012, at Monroe Clinic Hospital in Monroe. He was born September 9, 1926 in Monroe the son of Frank and Elda (Rufer) Hartwig. He graduated from Monroe High School in 1944. Harvey was united in marriage to Shirley Erickson on June 26, 1949 at Jordan Lutheran Church in Jordan Township, Green County, WI. He had lived and farmed in Lamont Township with his wife since 1955. Harvey also worked at Argyle Industries.
Harvey is survived by three children: Walter (Theresa) Hartwig and Jonathan Hartwig both of South Wayne, WI, and Shirlene (Daniel) Chart of Stoughton, WI; eleven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; two brothers: Kenneth (Nuiko) Hartwig of Moore, OK, and Gary (Charlotte) Hartwig of Monroe, WI; one sister: Shirlene (Harold) Kading of Fair Acres, NM; and two sisters-in-law: Jackie Hartwig of Argyle, WI, and Marrianne Erickson of Stoughton, WI. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife: Shirley on December 17, 2010; and one brother: Ivan Hartwig.
Harvey was a member of Apple Grove Lutheran Church, North American Bluebird Society, Lafayette County Blue Bird Society, Blue Bird Restoration Association of Wisconsin (B.R. A. W.), Green-Roch and National Audubon Society, Jo Davies Natural Area Guardians, Minnesota Blue Bird Recovery Program, Lafayette County Farm Bureau Association, and Lafayette County Historical Society. He was a past member of Monroe Moose Lodge. Harvey will be sadly missed and fondly remembered by all who knew him.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, February 8th, 2012 at 11:00 A.M. at Apple Grove Lutheran Church (14501 Apple Grove Church Road, Argyle Township 53504) with Rev. Daniel L. Bohlman officiating. Burial will be at Apple Grove Lutheran Church Cemetery. A visitation will be held Tuesday, February 7, 2012 from 4:00 until 8:00 P.M. at Erickson Funeral Home in Argyle, and from 10:00 A.M. until time of services at the church on Wednesday.
