BRODHEAD - Granada Loberta Marie Dinse was born to Herman and Pearl (Giese) Dinse on August 11, 1917. She died on September 22, 2014 at age 97. She married Elzie V. Laube August 1, 1939. Elzie died March 3, 1971. They had five sons, Elzie, Jr. (Irene), Hillsborough, NC; Neil (Mary Jo), Junction City, WI; Mark; Scott (Mary); and Brian, all of Brodhead; twelve grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a brother, Duward Dinse; daughter-in law, Anita Laube; and two great-grandchildren. Granada lived a full life, and touched many people through her work as a country school teacher; a 4-H leader; town assessor; census taker; tutoring reading for adults and in local, county, district and state offices of Extension Homemakers. She held many offices in the Methodist Church and United Methodist Women.
Granada traveled extensively including trips to Russia, the Orient, Kenya, Israel, Cuba and China. She went to the Holy Land three times, and especially enjoyed observing the archeological discoveries unearthed between her visits. Her last foreign trip was to South America.
Granada hopes that family, friends and relatives will gather at the D.L. Newcomer Funeral Home, Brodhead, WI, on Saturday, October 4, 2014 from 10-11a.m. to visit and remember her, followed by a brief service and a private interment at Greenwood Cemetery, Brodhead, WI. Following the interment there will be a fellowship at the Bank of Brodhead, starting at noon. Memorials may be made to the organization of the donor's choice.
