BROWNTOWN/JANESVILLE - Glen W. Bunting, age 86, of Browntown, WI, formerly of Janesville, passed away unexpectedly Sunday, February 13, 2011 at the Collinwood Senior Living, Brodhead, WI. He was born August 7, 1924 in Janesville, the youngest child of the late Arthur L. & Edna Belle (Kislia) Bunting. Glen was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving his country during World War II in the European Theatre of Operations. He had worked as a Truck Driver for many years, working for Monroe Trucking Co., and had also worked at Gilman Engineering Co. prior to his driving career.
On August 30, 1975 he married the former Betty J. Monroe in Monroe, WI. Glen was a self-taught guitar player, and ended up playing professionally around Southern Wisconsin, and also had played with some groups in Nashville, TN. He enjoyed woodworking, fishing, NASCAR racing, especially Matt Kenseth, and loved football, especially his beloved Green Bay Packers. Glen had won tickets from Pick-N-Save to attend the 1989 Super Bowl in Miami, featuring the San Francisco 49ers and the Cincinnati Bengals.
He was a member of the American Legion Post 84, and also was a member of the V.F.W. Cecil Jones Post 2312 in Monroe.
Glen is survived by his wife, Betty, of Browntown, his children, Mary Kinyon, Rose Bond, George Bond, Elizabeth Leopold, Orrin Bond, Cindy Bond, Charlissa Segner, Audrey Bond, Lois Hanson, Perry Bond, Donna Bond, Beth, Willis, Glenda, Lois, Emily, Mary, and Michael, numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and friends. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Juanita, Kenneth, Vernon, Earl, and Ruth, his nephew, Richard Teubert, and his niece, Kim Perkins.
Memorial Services will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Saturday, February 26, 2011 at PEACE UNITED CHURCH OF CHRIST, 312 E. South St., Browntown. Inurnment with Full Military Rites will take place in April in Oak Hill Cemetery, Janesville. The WHITCOMB-LYNCH-ALBRECHT FUNERAL HOME, JANESVILLE is assisting her family with arrangements.
