MONROE TOWNSHIP - A 15-year-old girl was critically injured in a ride mower accident just north of Monroe Thursday, July 11.
She was mowing the lawn at a residence at N3526 Aebly Road in Monroe Township when the accident happened, according to the Green County Sheriff's Department. Deputies, Green County EMS and the Monroe Fire Department's First Responders were called to the scene at 7:46 p.m.
The girl sustained significant injuries, Sheriff Jeff Skatrud said. She was taken first to Monroe Clinic and then airlifted by Medflight helicopter to the University of Wisconsin Hospital in Madison.
She was discovered by a family member and reported to be unresponsive. A preliminary investigation suggests the tractor somehow tipped onto her, trapping her underneath.
"Since no one witnessed the incident, it is unknown how long the victim had been trapped or exactly how the incident occurred," Skatrud said.
As of Friday afternoon, July 12, Skatrud had no further information on her condition.
