Gary Lee Komprood, 62, of Beloit, WI, died Wednesday, August 18, 2010 in Beloit Memorial Hospital.

He was born October 31, 1947 in Monroe, WI, the son of Merle and Vada (Wolfe) Komprood. Gary was a graduate of Gratiot High School. He was a Vietnam veteran of the U.S. Army from 1968 until 1970. He received the Combat Infantry Badge, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Purple Heart, 1 Oak Leaf Cluster, the Bronze Star, Vietnam Campaign Medal and the Air Medal. Gary married Ruth E. Homb on September 18, 1971 in South Wayne, WI.

Gary was employed by Chrysler Corporation for 30 years, retiring in 1997. After his retirement he was a part time custodian for Messiah Evangelical Lutheran Church. He was a member of the V.F.W. Post #2306, Loyal Order of the Moose #191, and the Beloit Eagles Club Aerie # 557. Gary enjoyed attending and watching the Green Bay Packers, Milwaukee Brewers and NASCAR races. He also enjoyed fishing.

Survivors include his wife, Ruth Komprood of Beloit, WI; son, Brian (Michelle Dumit) Komprood of Fort Wayne, IN; sisters and brothers, June Purvis of Monroe, WI, Delores (Dale) Arteberry of Freeport, IL, Ronnie (Barb) Komprood of Darlington, WI, Nancy Martin of Monroe, WI, Kenneth (Luann) Komprood of Orfordville, WI, Keith (Dianna) Komprood of Gratiot, WI, Pat (Chuck) Stalsberg of Janesville, WI, Wayne (Joanne) Komprood of Dakota, IL, Gene (Glenda) Komprood of Gratiot, WI, and David (Cathy) Komprood of Gratiot, WI; sister-in-law, Grace Homb of Madison, WI; brothers-in-law, Roger Homb of Monroe, WI, Vern (Jeanette) Homb of Richland Center, WI, Raymond (Betty) Homb of Fort Worth, TX, Clyde Homb of Arlington, TX, and Ken (Sandy) Homb of Ventura, CA; many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his parents; grandparents; brothers-in-law, Marvin Purvis, Jack Fletcher, Dave Martin and Robert Homb; and sister-in-law, Leona Homb.

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, August 23, 2010 in Messiah Evangelical Lutheran Church, 1531 Townline Avenue, Beloit, WI, with Reverend Dennis L. Pingel officiating. Burial will be in East Lawn Cemetery with Military Rites accorded by the V.F.W. Post # 2306. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday in the Daley Murphy Wisch & Associates Funeral Home and Crematorium, 2355 Cranston Road, Beloit, WI.

Memorials may be given in his name to the Messiah Evangelical Lutheran Church.
