Frieda Roth Haney, 89, of Fredericksburg, peacefully passed away on April 30, 2011 at Carriage Hill Health and Rehab Center.

Nicknamed "Pete", she was born to Swiss immigrant parents, Albert and Emma Roth, on July 3, 1921 in Oneco, Illinois. She was raised along with 10 siblings in the small Wisconsin town of New Glarus, also known as "America's Little Switzerland".

Mrs. Haney was a long time member of Tabernacle United Methodist Church. She was an avid golfer and bowler well into her 80s, and loved to quilt.

Survivors include her sister, Olga Norder, of Monroe, WI; her daughter, Deborah Garland and son-in-law Calib; her son Ray D. Haney, II and daughter-in-law Lena, all of Spotsylvania County; her grandsons, Frank Garland, Mark Garland and his wife, Lee Anne and Ray D. "Tripp" Haney, III and his wife, Jennifer; her granddaughters, Danielle Pelletier and her husband, Kevin and Allison Carter and her husband, Chris; ten great grandchildren, Kaleigh, Cami, and Riley Pelletier, Klaire and Danica Haney, Sidney, Abigail, and Benjamin Garland, and Caroline and Mason Carter; numerous nieces and nephews; and cherished family friend Paige McDorman. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 56 years, Ray D. Haney, Sr.; her parents; and nine siblings.

The family will receive friends from 6-8pm, Thursday, May 5 at Covenant Funeral Service, Fredericksburg.

A service will be held at 10 am, Friday, May 6 at the funeral home chapel, with the Rev. Stephen D. Hay officiating. Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens.

Pallbearers will be Frank Garland, Mark Garland, Tripp Haney, Jim Haney, Marc Garland and Steve Haney. J.B. Haney and Ronnie Haney will serve as honorary pallbearers.
