Frederick W. "Fred" Kurschner

Frederick W. "Fred" Kurschner age 72 of Verona, WI, formerly of Blanchardville, WI, passed away Wednesday, April 13, 2011, at Meriter Hospital in Madison, WI. He was born January 10, 1939 in Abbotsford, PA, the son of Lester and Evelyn (Williams) Kurschner. Fred grew up in Barron, WI, where he graduated from Barron High School in 1957. He spent a short time in Iowa before moving to Forreston, IL, where he owned and operated Fred's Market. Fred was united in marriage to Delores Wild-Daws on December 15, 1973 at Little Brown Church in Nashua, IA. In 1974, they moved to Southwest Wisconsin, where they remodeled and sold homes and apartment buildings. In the early 1980's Fred and a partner established Midwestern Bio-Ag Organic Fertilizer and Mineral Company in Blue Mounds, WI; in 2007 Fred semi retired.

Fred is survived by his wife: Delores of Verona; six children: Keith Daws of Oregon, WI, Mary-Lyn (Keith) Austin of Brodhead, WI, Ann (Jim) Gapinski of Bellevue, NE, Brenda Gottuso of St. Charles, MO, Pam (Ken) Mullin of St. Peters, MO, and Todd (Sue) Kurschner also of Bellevue; 14 grandchildren: Jordan, Jared, Lindsey, Meghann, Katelyn, Neal, Nichole, Kyle, Ali, Tyler, Marissa, Kagen, Casandra, and Tess; two brothers: Dave (Louise) Kurschner of Barron, WI, and Larry "Ron" (Vicki) Kurschner of Blanchardville; and one sister-in-law: Donna Kurschner of Watertown, WI. He was preceded in death by his parents; and one brother: Bob Kurschner.

Fred attended High Point Church in Madison, where he and Delores ushered for a number of years. He loved spending time with his family at the cabin in Central Wisconsin. Fred was an avid reader of health books. He was seen as a visionary by many. He will always be remembered for his ability to make people smile and laugh.

Funeral services will be held Sunday, April 17, 2011, at 2:00 P.M. at Argyle, United Methodist Church, 200 South Street in Argyle with Rev. Dietrich R. Gruen officiating. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery in rural Argyle. A visitation will be held Saturday, April 16, 2011, from 4:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at Erickson Funeral Home, 60 Breeze Terrace (GPS Users: 801 East Milwaukee Street) in Argyle and Sunday, April 17, 2011, from 1:00 P.M. until the time of services at the church.
