Fred H. Kipfer, age 86 of rural Argyle, WI, passed away Thursday, May 15, 2008 at Monroe Manor in Monroe, WI. He was born October 5, 1921 in Argyle township, Lafayette County, WI, the son of Oscar C. and Marie M. (Buetzer) Kipfer. Fred graduated from Argyle High School in 1939. He was united in marriage to Dorothy S. Hauri on November 21, 1948 in Monroe, WI. Fred lived and farmed in Argyle Township from 1950 until moving to Monroe Manor in August of 2007.

He is survived by three children: Vicki (Larry) Coulthard of Sun Prairie, WI, Ron Kipfer of rural Argyle, Deb Meyer of Brodhead, WI; three grandchildren: Patrick Coulthard, Brian Coulthard, Kelsey Meyer; three brothers: Glenn (Beatta) Kipfer of Janesville, WI, Lawrence (Mary) Kipfer of Franklin, WI, and Harlow Kipfer of Madison, WI; one sister: Margaret Keller of West Salem, WI; and two sisters-in-law: Carol Kipfer of Waukesha, WI and Merrilee Kipfer of Bellevue, WA. Fred was preceded in death by his parents, wife Dorothy on July 14, 2002, one sister: Bertha Larson, three brothers: Delbert Kipfer, Orville Kipfer and Oscar Kipfer, Jr.; and one brother-in-law: Alfred Keller.

Fred was a member of Yellowstone Lutheran Church and its Cemetery Board. He was a past member of the church council. He played for Home Talent Baseball in Blanchardville in his younger years and enjoyed watching the Milwaukee Brewers.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, May 19, 2008 at Yellowstone Lutheran Church with Rev. Daniel L. Bohlman officiating. Burial will be in Yellowstone Lutheran Church Cemetery. A visitation will be held from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. Sunday, May 18, 2008 at Erickson Funeral Home in Argyle. On line condolences may be left for the family at www.ericksonfuneralhome.com.
