WINSLOW - Frank R. Krebs, 90, of Winslow, passed away on Thursday, August 26, 2010 at the FHN Memorial Hospital in Freeport, IL. Frank was born on January 17, 1920 in Cadiz Township, Wisconsin to Robert A. and Merle (Gage) Krebs. He married Viola A. Fernstaedt on January 8, 1943 in Browntown, Wisconsin. Frank and his wife farmed for 4 years on the family farm until 1947 when they moved to Winslow, Illinois. He worked for the next 40 years in Winslow as an auto mechanic in partnership with his brother in-law, David Heer. Frank retired from Krebs and Heer Auto Service in 1986. Frank was a member of St. Paul United Church of Christ in Wayne Township, Wisconsin. He enjoyed doing wood working projects, golfing and bowling. Frank also sharpened chainsaw chains and lawn mower blades.

Surviving are: two daughters, Nancy (Gary) Albrecht of Winslow, IL, Linda (Donald) Gilbertson of Winslow, IL; 4 grandchildren: Brian (Tamara) Albrecht of Lena, IL, Barbara (Jon) Schubert of Waddams Grove, IL, Scott Luke of Chicago, IL, Corey Luke of Freeport, IL; 5 step-grandchildren: Derek Gilbertson and Fiancée Katie Huffman of Monroe, WI, Deidre (Jim) Kundert of Monroe, WI, Jacob, Caleb, and Bethanie Gilbertson of Winslow; 6 great-grandchildren: Heidi, Kayla, Austin Schubert, Kelsey, Kyle Albrecht and Skylar Kundert; and one sister, Betty Heer of Monroe, WI. Frank was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Viola, on May 2, 1998; 2 brothers, Robert C. and Arthur L.; and 1 sister, Anna Miler.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, August 30, 2010 at St. Paul United Church of Christ in Wayne Township, WI.

Visitation will be from 3 to 7 p.m. on Sunday, August 29, 2010 at Leamon Funeral Home in Winslow, IL. and on Monday, from 10 a.m. until time of service at the church.

Pastor Gene McIntosh will officiate the service.

Burial will take place at Saucerman Cadiz Cemetery.
