Florence M. Kittoe, age 91 of Shullsburg, WI, passed away Monday, September 22, 2008 at Southwest Heath Care Center in Cuba City, WI. She was born October 19, 1916 in Dunbarton, WI, the daughter of Clarence and Marie (Swanson) McCoy. Florence was united in marriage to Norman Kittoe on May 4, 1940 in Dubuque, IA. Florence graduated from Shullsburg High School in 1933, and later attended Platteville Normal School where she received her teaching certificate in 1934. She taught school in the Shullsburg area for a number of years before retiring in 1978.
Florence is survived by one son: Charles (Karen) Kittoe of Shullsburg, WI; three daughters: Helyne (Jerry) Bausman of Belvidere, IL, Dorothy Kittoe of Shullsburg, WI, Betty Kittoe of Dubuque, IA; two brothers: Gordon (Cleone) McCoy of Gratiot, WI, Leonard McCoy of Shullsburg, WI; one sister: Ruth Smith of Fairplay, WI; three sisters-in-law: Lavada Brunskill of Benton, WI, Adda Gehrt of Shullsburg, WI, Margaret McCoy of Janesville, WI: five grandchildren: Pamela (Adam) Slonim, Denise (Jacob) Smith, Jason (Kristy) Haffele, Nicole (Mike) Ahlberg, Holly Haffele; seven great-grandchildren: Dylan Reilly, Brianna Slonim, Jacob Slonim, Benjamin Smith, Gavin Smith, Tyler McDonald, and McKenna Haffele. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband: Norman on October 20, 1996; one granddaughter: Jackie Bausman; three sisters: Alberta Leitzinger, June McCoy, Vivian Herbst; two brothers: Delbert and Robert McCoy.
Florence was a lifelong member of the Centenary United Methodist Church. She enjoyed baking, gardening, and working in her flower garden.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, September 26, 2008 at Centenary United Methodist Church in Shullsburg with Rev. Brenda Whitford officiating. Burial will be at the Evergreen Cemetery in Shullsburg. A visitation will be held from 4 until 8 p.m. Thursday, September 25, 2008 at the O'Flahrity-Erickson Funeral Home in Shullsburg and also on Friday, September 26, 2008 from 10 a.m. until the time of services.
