Evelyn V. McGinley, age 90 of Monroe, died Saturday, November 6, 2010 at Pleasant View Nursing Home, Monroe. Evelyn was born April 11, 1920 in Chicago, IL, the daughter of Edward and Beatrice (Anderson) Mulligan. Evelyn married Spencer McGinley on May 16, 1942 in Monroe. Following their marriage they lived in Jordan Center where they owned and operated Jordan Center Grocery for many years. Evelyn also worked as a waitress at Marco's Supper Club. Following her retirement she enjoyed gardening, fishing, and attending sales and auctions with her husband. She has been a resident of Pleasant View since 2004.
She is survived by three children, Diane Wyss, Ronald McGinley, both of Monroe, and Michael McGinley of Janesville; 13 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; four brothers, Thomas of Madison, James and William(Linda), both of Janesville, and Frances (Luella) Mulligan of Florida; five sisters, Darlene Daley of Janesville, Verna (Jimmy) Clark of Rockford, Il, Juanita Zweifel and Rita Brunner, both of Monroe; an Aunt, Kittie May Whitehead of Monroe; and a sister-in-law, Julia Mulligan of Freeport.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband on Nov. 3, 1993; and two brothers, Wayne and Claire Mulligan.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, November 10, 2010, at 12:00 p.m., at the Newcomer Funeral Home, Monroe. Rev. Lowell Stuessy will officiate with burial to follow in Greenwood Cemetery, Monroe. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Wednesday from 11:00 a.m until the time of service.
