Eva R. Meier of South Wayne, Wisconsin passed away to be with her Lord on Sunday, June 23, 2013 surrounded by her family. She was born January 12, 1931 to William and Lucille (Ethridge) Hale. Eva attended South Wayne area schools, Madison Area Technical College, and Blackhawk Technical College. She worked at Micro Switch and St. Clare Hospital/Monroe Clinic for 45 years.
Eva and Glen Meier were married by the late Rev. Gunderson at Peace Church Parsonage in Browntown. Eva was a member of Peace Church in Christ in Browntown and served on the Church Council, was Financial Secretary, served on the Women's Guild and taught Sunday School when her children attended. She was a member of the Women of the Moose Chapter #599, former member of the Pecatonica Bit and Spur Saddle Club, the Pecatonica Homemakers Club, and the South Wayne EMS. She enjoyed working in her flower beds, playing euchre, canning especially sweet pickles & peaches, cooking and baking - but she most of all enjoyed spending time with her family.
Surviving are her husband, Glen, of South Wayne, her four children, Donald (Linda VanStone) Meier of Rockton, IL, Duane (Cammy) Meier of South Wayne, WI, Glenda "Christy" (Gene) Komprood of Gratiot, WI & Ginger (Ed) Hagen of South Wayne, WI; seven grandchildren - Jami (Greg Brown) Dodge, Jennifer (Bob Schultz) Abraham, Nikole (Jason) Smith, Jeremy Komprood, Amanda (Chris Reichling) Meyer, Kaci (Jeremy) Nall & Kaitlyn (TJ) Wirtz; ten great-grandchildren - Brittany Meier, Austin & Chloe Abraham, Gavin & Reese Smith, Conner & Cade Meyer, Alli & Blake Nall & Kaedyn Komprood; brothers - Dick (Nancy) Hale, William (Frieda) Hale & Jack (Marianna) Hale; and sisters - Nathalie (John) Ruf & Wilma (Armin) Wand. She was predeceased by her parents; grandparents; grandson-in-law Scott Dodge; sister-in-law Evalyn Hale; and several nieces, nephews, half-brothers & half-sisters.
Visitation will be from 4:00 to 8:00 P.M. Thursday, June 27, 2013 at Shriner-Hager-Gohlke Funeral Home 1455 Mansion Drive & N. 18th Avenue in Monroe and from 10:00 until time of service at 11:00 A.M. Friday at the church.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Friday, June 28, 2013 at Peace Church in Christ in Browntown with Pastor Wayne Gregory and Pastor Dennis Perger officiating. Burial will follow in LaDue Cemetery, Wayne Township, Lafayette County, WI.
A Memorial Fund is being established in Eva's memory.
She will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her.
