Eugene "Gene" Engebretson, age 68 of Albany, formerly of the Wiota/Monroe area, died on Thursday, March 8, 2012 at his home. He was born on November 1, 1943 in Darlington, the son of Willis and Julia (Johnson) Engebretson. Gene attended Wiota Grade School and was a graduate of Argyle High School. He served in the U.S. Army, stationed in Germany and was honorably discharged. Gene and Sherry Sheeder were married on August 15, 1981. He worked for Industrial Combustion for 31 years. He was a former member of the West Wiota Lutheran Church.
Surviving is his wife of 31 years: Sherry Engebretson of Albany; children, Alan Engebretson of GA, Terri L. Sheeder of IA, Angie Bailey of Baraboo; 6 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; brothers, Larry (Carol) of Beloit, Ron (Barbara) of Lancaster and Duane Engebretson of AK; sisters-in-law, Nancy Engebretson, Doris Garrison, Barbara Woodyard; brother-in-law, Bill Woodyard, also several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He is predeceased by his parents and brother, Bobby.
A Memorial Service will be held on Sunday, March 11, 2012 at 4:00 P.M. at the Wiota Lutheran Church, with Rev. Luke Smetters officiating. Private burial will be held at a later date. A visitation will be held on Saturday, from 4:00 to 7:00 P.M. at the Shriner-Hager-Gohlke Funeral Home in Monroe. A memorial fund is being established in Gene's memory.
