Esther M. Hale age 95 of Darlington, WI, entered her eternal life on Saturday, April 9, 2011, surrounded by the love of her family and friends. She was born September 18, 1915 on the family farm in Adams Township in Green County, WI, the daughter of Edwin and Ida (Helmeid) Moen. Esther lived in Adams Township until her marriage to Howard W.

Hale on September 14, 1936 in Freeport, IL. Following their marriage they moved to Postville, WI, and in 1943 they moved to Fayette Township, where they farmed until their retirement in 1968. In 1992, she moved into Darlington.

Esther is survived by two daughters: Betty (Charles) Hermanson of rural Darlington, and Evelyn (Richard) Larson of rural South Wayne, WI; one son: Dennis (Teri) Hale of Monroe, WI; six grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband on June 18, 1992; two grandchildren: Chuckie and Connie Hermanson; one great-grandson: Nathan Larson; one brother: Ancil Moen; and one sister: Inez Wyttenbach.

Esther was a member of Fayette United Methodist Church, its United Methodist Women, church choir, and a past Sunday school teacher. She was also a 4-H leader and past member of the Fayette P.T.A.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, April 12, 2011, at 11:00 A.M. at Erickson Funeral Home, 508 Park Place (GPS Users: 130 West Cornelia Street) in Darlington with Rev. Larry Hakes of Darlington United Methodist officiating. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery in rural Argyle, WI. A visitation will be held Tuesday, April 12, 2011, from 10:00 A.M. until the time of service at the funeral home. Online condolences may be expressed to the family at www.ericksonfuneralhome.com.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in Esther's name.
