Elisabeth A. "Betty" Sorenson age 100 of Monroe, died Thursday, January 15, 2015 at Pleasant View Nursing Home, Monroe. Betty was born September 10, 1914 in Janesville, WI, the daughter of Henry and Matilda (Garske) Teubert. She graduated from high school in Janesville and attended Madison Beauty School. She married Armond Sorenson on February 20, 1946 in Rochelle, IL. He preceded her in death on August 16, 1963. Betty moved to Monroe with her husband in 1951 and operated Betty's Beauty Salon until retiring in 1982. She was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Monroe where she was an officer of the Martha Circle and was a past president of the V.F.W. Auxiliary to Cecil Jones Post #2312.
She is survived by three children, William R. (Karen) Sorenson of Bloomer, WI, David L. (Dianna) Sorenson of South Wayne, WI, Lynda K. Fernstaedt of Monroe; six grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; two grandsons, Scott Sorenson in 1987 and Eric Fernstaedt in 1989; three brothers; and her step-mother, step-sister, and step-brother.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, January 19, 2015, at 11:00 a.m., at Grace Lutheran Church, Monroe, with Rev. John Tabaka officiating. Interment will be in Milton Lawns Memorial Park in Janesville. Visitation will be at the church on Monday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. A memorial fund will be established in her name for Grace Lutheran Church. The Newcomer Funeral Home, Monroe, is assisting the family.
