5/29/1916 - 3/31/2017

Eileen was the second daughter born to Lydia and Edgar Krug in Knowles, Wisconsin later moving to DePere where her brother Lester was born. She came to Monroe for nurses training at the old Deaconess Hospital where she met and married the love of her life, Richard on June 2, 1938. He died 4/2006. Together they operated a Sulphur Bath business followed by a 19 bed Nursing Home, Ambulance Service and Eirich Import business. When the nursing home closed, Eileen worked in the St. Clare Hospital cafeteria into her 70's.

She was always available to volunteer at the United Methodist Church, Epsilon Sigma Alpha, Women' Relief Corp, Republican Party, PTA, chaired the Heart Association, etc. while also being the mom that drove us to the away games.

When Windy Acres opened, she and Rich took up golf and Windy became their second home introducing the game to son Bill at an early age. When she could no longer golf, he often drove her in the cart and she would hit a couple of balls. She was an avid Packer and all things Badger fan. When she wasn't watching sports, she was reading usually 2 or 3 books a week, painting by number, working a puzzle, calling people to sing Happy Birthday or visiting with her wonderful neighbors and enjoying their dogs Haley and Lilly. The family is especially grateful to Marion, Judy, Edie, Marie and Lil for all of their care.

Through all these years, she had a secret and just before her 100th birthday last May, she was reunited with the baby she had given up as a teenager, Dorien. What a joy it was for her this past year getting to know her daughter.

She was a remarkable woman in many ways. She had a knee replacement at 89 and a 2nd at 92. At 94, she fell and hit her head and was in ICU for 3 weeks and at 96 she broke her femur and recovered at the Manor (we wheeled her downtown for Cheese Days) and at almost 101, she slipped away in her own chair in her living room after enjoying her favorite meal. Let us celebrate her life's journey.

Preceded in death by her parents, her sister Myrtle, her brother Lester, and her husband Richard, she is survived by son Bill (Bonnie) Wagner, Monroe, daughters Dorien (Fred) Hammon, Plymouth, WI, and Nancy (Jerry) DeLap, Loveland, CO her grandchildren, Deb (Dane) Ruttenberg, Granby, CO, Dan DeLap, Chicago, Sean Foster, Texas, CJ (Jeanette) Foster, Akron, OH, Deborah (Brian) Kloster, Miles City, MT, and great grandchildren Madeline and Ethan Ruttenberg, Samuel Foster, and Isabel and Claire Kloster, also nieces Lynn (John) Nelson, Lafayette, IN, Jeanne (Tom) Drake, Levittown, PA, and nephew Lyle (Jane) Krug, Freeport, IL.

Eileen donated her body to UW-Madison Medical School. A memorial service will be held at the Monroe United Methodist Church at Noon on June 17.
