BROOKLYN - Edith Wittenwyler, age 94, of Brooklyn, passed away on Wednesday, June 20, 2012, at Willow Point Memory Care in Verona. She was born on Jan. 29, 1918, in the Township of Brooklyn, the daughter of Phillip and Della DeRemer. She was the youngest of ten children, and was raised on the family farm. Edith attended Jug Prairie Country School. She married Walter Wittenwyler on April 26, 1933, and together they raised their three children, Kenneth, Bruce, and Melody. Edith was a very hardworking farm wife. She is survived by her daughter, Melody (Steve) Bakken; sisters-in-law, Joyce Wittenwyler and Pauline Wittenwyler; nine grandchildren, Scott, Kathy, Laurie, John, Renee, Brent, Kristin, Brandon, and Nick; 21 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Walt; sons, Ken and Bruce; nine brothers and sisters; and special friend, Jake Buol. Funeral services will be held at BROOKLYN UNITED METHODIST CHURCH, 201 Church Street, Brooklyn, at 11 a.m. on Friday, June 22, 2012, with the Rev. Gail Brown presiding. Burial will be at Mt. Hope Cemetery in Brooklyn. Visitation will be held at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of service on Friday. Memorials may be made to Agrace HospiceCare.
