In characteristic fashion, he said hardly a word about his many life accomplishments, but chose instead to focus on his appreciation for the relationships he had built throughout his life. We are including a brief excerpt from his thoughts here, but we encourage you to read the full transcription at http://www.gundersonfh.com/obituaries/Dr-Douglas-George-Batty?obId=2599425#/obituaryInfo, which includes specific messages to his family, his friends, his patients, and his caregivers. "Dearest family, friends, and patients: I've been so privileged to know all of you and so appreciate your caring, your support, and all of the fun times and jokes... I've had a very good life, thanks to all of you. My memories of all of you are very precious... I just want to give thanks to everybody who made my life what it is. I'm the luckiest guy in the world... I like the simple life, the simple pleasures; I'm a simple country boy. The love around me, and the land. It's an eternal presence, the rhythms go on and on through the ages. It's been a great life." Online condolences may be made at www.gundersonfh.com.
