Dorothy Marie Goonan, 88, of Browntown passed away on Wednesday, February 22, 2017 at her home. She was born on May 22, 1928 to William and Agnes (Kleba) Goff in Milwaukee. Dorothy was united in marriage to Francis A. Goonan on February 7, 1953 in Milwaukee.
Dorothy was a graduate of Pius XI High School in Milwaukee; she also attended Secretarial College at Prospect Hall in Milwaukee. She was a secretary for the Vice President of United Airlines, Midway until 1953. She worked for Windy Acres for many years. Dorothy was a long time member of St. John's Catholic Church in South Wayne. She was the town clerk for Cadiz Township for eight years. Dorothy enjoyed helping run the family farm, cultivating corn, gardening, swimming in the pond, as well as cooking for large gatherings. She also liked computers, reading many books, and volunteering at St. Vincent's in Monroe. Frank and Dorothy hosted international exchange students, foster and Native American children.
She is survived by her six children, Mary Goonan of Belleville, Georgette Goonan, DVM of Fountain, CO, Frank (Maureen) Goonan of Fredericksburg, VA, Terri (Todd) Hughes of Monroe, Betty (Gene) Abraham of Browntown, and Jackie (Jerry) Boss of Browntown; sister, Jane Goonan of Manitowoc; grandchildren; as well as nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
She was predeceased by her parents; husband, Frank in 2015; and brothers, William and Robert Goff.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, March 3, 2017 at St John's Catholic Church in South Wayne with concelebrants Fr. Sudhakar Devarapu and Fr. Joji Thirumalareddy. Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 2, 2017 at SHRINER HAGER GOHLKE Funeral Home from 4:00-7:00 pm.
