Dorothy Mae Reifsteck, age 89 of Monroe died following a brief illness on Sunday, April 10, 2011 at Pleasant View Nursing Home, surrounded by her family. She was born August 6, 1921 in Tomah, the daughter of Adolf and Wilhelmina Schendel. She graduated from Tomah High School in 1940. Dorothy worked in Chicago before moving to Brodhead with her first husband LeRoy Berg. She worked as a secretary for the Brodhead Cheese Factory before taking a position at Oaktron Industries where she worked until the company closed. In 1962 she married Eldon Reifsteck before moving to Monroe in 1975. They were married for 38 years until he died in 2000. She was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Monroe, loved spending time with her grandchildren, was a cat lover, and enjoyed playing cards and listening to music.

She is survived by her step-children, Nick Reifsteck of Rena, NV, Joanne (Ray) Kirschbaum of Cassville, WI, Connie (Dick) Meier of Stoughton, and Tom (Ann) Reifsteck of Bluffton, IN; 8 step-grandchildren; 14 step-greatgrandchildren; and 5 step-greatgreatgrandchildren. She is further survived by a sister-in-law, Esther Schendel of Tomah, many nieces and nephews, and her good friends and caretakers, Beth Faith and Peggy Raab. She was preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, April 14, 2011, at 11:00 a.m., at Grace Lutheran Church, Monroe, with Rev. John Tabaka officiating. Interment will be in Oak Grove Cemetery, Tomah.
