Dorothy L. Casselberry, age 83 of Monroe, died peacefully on Thursday, May 8, 2008 at the Monroe Manor.

Dorothy was born August 14, 1924 in Aitkin, Minnesota, the daughter of Chester W. and Eliza A. (Skates) Morgan. She was educated in Aitkin public schools and graduated from Aitkin High School in 1942. Dorothy lived in the Savanna/Mt. Carroll, IL area all her life until moving to Monroe in 1986.

At the end of WWII, Dorothy worked at the Savanna Army Depot for several years before her marriage to Donald E. Casselberry on October 30, 1948. Following her marriage she worked as the office manager for the family business, Carroll Feed Service of Mt. Carroll, IL and after the sale of the business she was employed as a cook, bus driver, and teacher's aide with the Rolling Hills Progress Center in Lanark, IL.

She enjoyed golfing, gardening, horses, was an avid reader, and loved spending time with her family.

Survivors include a son, Jerry (Patti) Casselberry of Monroe; a daughter, Teresa Devine (Tom Doty), both of Galesburg, IL; five grandchildren, Scott (Kathy) Casselberry of Amery, WI, Beth, Sara, and Amy Casselberry, all of Milwaukee, Lauren Devine of Galesburg, IL; three great-grandchildren, Jeremy, Benjamin, and Zachary Casselberry, all of Amery, WI; and one sister, Betty Bogue of Berea, KY.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Donald on Feb. 20, 2002; a granddaughter, Stacy Casselberry; five brothers, Leo, Paul, Wayne, Harold, Loren, and Jim Morgan; and two sisters, Millie Heisler and Rusty Kent.

A celebration of Dorothy's life will be held on Saturday, May 17, 2008, at 11 a.m. at Grace Lutheran Church, Monroe, with Reverend John Tabaka officiating. A visitation will be held at the church on Saturday from 10 a.m. until the time of service. A memorial fund will be established in Dorothy's name.
