Dorothy Cromwell, of Monroe, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and sister, passed away at Pleasant View Nursing Home, on February 6th, 2018, at the age of 102.
Born in Thompson, Illinois, the daughter of George and Clara (Miller) Miner, on January 26, 1916, Dorothy was the first of nine children. Dorothy married Thomas Cromwell in 1934, and the two shared 66 happy years together. She was a devoted mother to her two children, George and Rose, and dedicated her life to caring for the needs of her family. Dorothy also spent 16 years working at the Swiss Colony. An avid gardener, she was a member of the Monroe Garden Club, as well as the Women of the Moose, Pythian Sisters, and several groups within St. John's United Church of Christ. When not in her garden, Dorothy enjoyed crocheting and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Dorothy is survived by her son George (Barbara) Cromwell; three grandchildren, Teri Cromwell, Tom (Dollie) Cromwell, and Kristen (Brian) Agen; five great-grandchildren, Sam Agen, Emily Freiberg, Zach Cromwell, Ben Agen, and Sarah Cromwell; and her sisters, Mary Rule and Vada Morhardt.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas and her daughter, Rose.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, February 12, 2018 at St. John's United Church of Christ with Rev. Todd Hackman officiating. Burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Monday, at the church, from 10:00 AM until the time of service.
