Donna K. (Callahan) Sperry

JANESVILLE - Donna K. (Callahan) Sperry, age 87, of Janesville, passed away on Sunday, July 31, 2016, at Mercy Hospital & Trauma Center after a brief illness. She was born in Beloit on Oct. 24, 1928, the daughter of John L. and Bernice (Ezdon) Callahan. Donna married Howard D. Sperry on May 15, 1954, at First Methodist Church in Beloit. She was a member of Cargill United Methodist Church in Janesville for over 50 years having served on several committees and was very active in the United Methodist Women, holding the office of president and later treasurer. Early on, Donna was employed by Parker Pen, and later worked part-time for McFarland Pheasant Farm, Gould School of Music (later the Music Mart) and for Gray's Beverage Company, before retiring. She was a bookkeeper and secretary at each of these businesses. Donna also volunteered for Rotary Gardens for several years. She enjoyed spending time with a close knit group of friends, traveling and going out for Friday fish fries with the ladies, but her greatest joy was spending time with her family.

Donna is survived by her daughter, Debra (Michael) Hutchinson of Monroe; and son, Stephen (Lori) Sperry of Janesville. She is further survived by her 4 precious grandchildren: Rebecca Hutchinson of Nevada, Taylor (Nate) Fettig of Elkhorn, Adam (Martha) Hutchinson of Fish Creek and Sarah (Joe) Gruber of Janesville. She was blessed to have 3 great grandchildren who she adored: Jackson and Addisyn Fettig and Olivia Gruber; many nieces, nephews, special friends and her close church group. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and brother, Lyle J. Callahan and his wife, Hedy.

A Funeral Service will be held at 12:00 noon on Friday, Aug. 5, 2016, at CARGILL UNITED METHODIST CHURCH with Rev. Susan Lockman officiating. Interment will be in Milton Lawns Memorial Park. A visitation will be held on Friday from 10:00 to 12:00 noon at the church. In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to Cargill United Methodist Church or Rotary Gardens in Donna's name.
