Donna Grace Bystry, 85, Monroe, WI, formerly of Bronson, Michigan, died on May 22, 2009, at the Angelus Retirement Community in Monroe, WI. She had been in failing health.
Donna was born on August 27, 1923, the daughter of Robert L. and Myrna (Rogers) Kellett in Orland, Indiana. She was raised in Orland and graduated from Orland High School in 1941. She married Edward Bystry on December 26, 1943 at St. Mary's Catholic Rectory in Bronson. They were lifelong residents of Bronson. Prior to her retirement, she worked for the Bronson Public School System at Anderson School for over 20 years. She was a member of the Coldwater Historical Society and was active in their fundraising efforts. She enjoyed the Bronson Public Library, sewing, crafts, crossword puzzles, dominos with close friends, and visiting her children and grandchildren.
Surviving are her husband, Edward of 65 years and her children, son, Michael (Cheryl) Bystry of Monroe, WI, daughter, Linda Whitehouse of Evanston, Ill., son, Joseph Bystry of Flowermound, TX, daughter, Kay (Mike) Walsh of Crystal Lake, Ill., son, Robert (Jenifer) Bystry of Glen Ellyn, Ill., son, Larry Bystry of Fishers, Ind.; 15 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister, Norman Barkowski; her sisters-in-law, Velma Bystry and Martha Kellett; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Alice in infancy; her sister, Mary Jane Boes; her brother, Robert W. Kellett; her sister, Ann Sellers; and brother-in-law, Donald Sellers; brothers-in-law, Albert Bystry and Frank Barkowski and brother- and sister-in-law, Vern and Eleanor Galloway.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, May 27, at the Kolcz Funeral Home in Bronson. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, May 28, at St. Mary's Assumption Catholic Church with Father Richard Fritz officiating. Burial will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery, Bronson, MI.
