Donald L. Blum, age 54 of Monticello, died Monday, December 22, 2008 at U.W. Hospital in Madison.
Don was born July 13, 1954 in Monroe, the son of John W. and Elaine (Swenson) Blum. Don attended Monticello High School and worked at many companies including Laidlaw, Advance Transformer, Oaktron, and Walnut Grove. He also hauled scrap iron to salvage for many years. Don worked as a rural carrier for the Monroe Times for 20 years and the Wisconsin State Journal for 8 years. He enjoyed playing cards, was an avid Packer fan, and loved riding motorcycles since he was age 16.
Survivors include his parents, John and Elaine Blum; two brothers, Mike (Sandy) Blum and Todd Blum (Patti Austin), all of Monticello; a nephew, Lukas Blum; and three nieces, Haley, Hannah, and Lilly Blum. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Olga Villlalpando; paternal grandparents, Fred and Louise Blum; and an Aunt, Colleen Gobeli.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, December 26, 2008, at Zwingli United Church of Christ, Monticello, with Rev. Lawrence Balleine officiating. Interment will be in Highland Cemetery, Monticello. A visitation will be at the church on Friday from 10 a.m. until time of services. Memorials may be given in Donald's name to Monroe Clinic Hospice.
