URBANA, ILL. - Dolores M. Frehner, 81, of Urbana, IL, died at 8:23 p.m. Sunday, October 17, 2010 at Carle Foundation Hospital, Urbana, surrounded by family.
Memorial services will be held at Grace United Methodist Church, Urbana, IL, Sunday, November 7 at 4:00 p.m.
Mrs. Frehner was born on May 28, 1929 in Albany, Wisconsin, the daughter of Byron and Mable Anderson Stephenson. She married Fred Frehner on February 11, 1950 in Monticello, Wisconsin. He survives. Also surviving are two daughters, Linda Braden of Urbana and Beverly Mitchell of Huntsville, Alabama; one brother, Douglas Stephenson of Albany, Wisconsin; one sister, Joann Sellnow of Monroe, Wisconsin; four grandchildren; and four great grandchildren.
She graduated from Albany High School, and earned a B.S. in Education from Wisconsin State University and an M.S. in Special Education from University of Wisconsin-Madison. Mrs. Frehner began her teaching career in a one room schoolhouse and taught elementary school and special education in Wisconsin for 38 years.
She was a dedicated member of Grace United Methodist Church, Urbana, and an active volunteer with numerous organizations, including Lions Club, Elks Club, Meals on Wheels, the school districts, etc.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Grace United Methodist Church, Lions Club or to an organization of the donor's choice.
