BLANCHARDVILLE - Dennis George Novinski, age 82 of Blanchardville, died on Tuesday, December 11, 2012, in a car accident. He was born on January 19, 1930, in Montfort, Wisconsin to Raymond and Dora (Dempsey) Novinski. He attended Montfort Grade and High School. Dennis served in the United States Army in Korea from 1951 - 1953. On November 4, 1953, he married Elizabeth Fuerstenberg at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Fennimore. At age 14 Dennis started his newspaper career, working at the Montfort Mail, Grant County Independent in Lancaster and newspapers in Highland and Muscoda before buying the Montfort Mail in 1954. In 1960 he purchased the Blanchardville Blade and moved to Blanchardville. He sold the Blade Atlas newspaper in 1975, continuing to run a successful commercial printing business (Ski Printers) until 1995. A retirement job at the Postville Blacksmith Shop allowed him to use his mechanical abilities and learn new skills. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, small bore and high power shooting, woodworking and amateur gunsmithing. He was a lifetime member of the NRA, member of Blanchardville and Green County Rifle Clubs since 1961, and a member of the Blanchardville fire department, rescue squad and ambulance for 25 years. Dennis was currently volunteering as a printer and handyman at Stonefield Historic Site in Cassville.

Dennis is survived by five daughters, Agnes (Thomas) Hughes of Cassville, WI, Cecilia Novinski of Cochrane, WI, Geralyn (Dennis Horn) Novinski of Cobb, WI, Virginia (Robert M.) McGowan of Blanchardville and Elizabeth "Bets" (Rick) Olson of Ripon, WI; three brothers, Lyle (Sybil) Novinski of Irving, TX, Cletus (Lynda) Novinski of Renton, WA, and Clement (Susan) Novinski of Renton, WA; a sister, Irene (Dr. Kenneth) Murray of Lansing, MI; 15 grandchildren and 7 great-grandsons. He was preceded in death by his parents; his infant son George Gerard and his wife Elizabeth, who recently died on September 2, 2012.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, December 17, 2012 at 11:00 AM at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Blanchardville. Father Thomas Gillespie will officiate. A funeral lunch will follow the service at the Dobson-Johnson American Legion Post in Blanchardville. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery in Fennimore. Visitation will be on Sunday, December 16, 2012, from 3:00 until 7:00 PM at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Blanchardville and Monday an hour before the funeral service.
