Delora Jean MacInnis, 79, gracefully made her transition from this life on Tuesday, August 18, 2009, surrounded by her immediate family and her dog Princess. She was born January 24, 1930, in Sault Ste. Marie, MI, to J. Brenton Kemp and Olga (Peg) Mattson.

As a homemaker and mother, she resided in Monroe for 47 years. Delora was a volunteer at the front desk of the Monroe Clinic Hospital for over 20 years.

Her greatest joy was spending time with family and friends and traveling back home to Michigan each summer. Her greatest accomplishment was petitioning the Governor of Michigan to name the Marina in Sault Ste. Marie, MI, the "George Kemp Marina" in honor of her grandfather who donated the waterfront property by the Soo Locks to the city.

She is survived by her sons, Mark and Tom of Monroe; Robert (Sherrill) of New Glarus; and her ex-husband, John of Verona. She was predeceased by her sisters, Gloria Dennis of Sault St. Marie, MI and Georgiana Patton of Midland, MI.

A celebration of Delora's life will be held from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Thursday, August 27, at the Shriner-Hager-Gohlke Funeral Home in Monroe. A memorial fund has been established in her name at the funeral home.
