Delivyn "Del" M. Brandenburg

Delivyn "Del" M. Brandenburg, age 81, of the Wisconsin Veterans Home in King, WI, passed away Thursday, January 9, 2014. He was born in Brokaw, WI on April 16, 1932, the son of Grover and Verna (Duranceau) Brandenburg. He married the love of his life and best friend, Phoebe Abraham on September 5, 1953. They shared 58 years and raised eight children together before her passing in 2011.

Del served with the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. Dubbed "Lefty," he enjoyed playing ball with his Navy team. He was a master plumber, real estate broker and contractor. His hobbies included hunting, fishing, cooking, making maple syrup, gardening and tending to his flowers. Family was key; he adored his wife, children and grandchildren.

He will be dearly missed by his children: Laura (David) Young of Mount Pleasant, TX; David (Mary) of Wausau, WI; Ann Brandenburg (fiance, Harry Sokol) of Dunbar, WI; Rebecca (Steve) Pink of Monroe, WI; Kathryn (Jon) Neff of Gratiot, WI; Steven John (Lisa) of Mosinee, WI; Michael of Monroe, WI; and Daniel (Cynthia) of Wausau, WI. Del is further survived by 25 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, and three siblings: Melvin of MN; Vernon (Betty) of Little Arborvitae, WI; and Sylvia Bratton of TX.

Preceding him in death were his parents, wife, in-laws: Ben and Marion Abraham; and three brothers: LeRoy, David and Walter.

A memorial service with military honors will be held. Burial will be at a later date in the Staver Cemetery in Monroe. The Maple Crest Funeral Home of Waupaca is assisting the family with arrangements.
