David G. Jacobs, age 90, of Exeland, WI and formerly of Monroe, WI passed away peacefully Friday, December 23, 2016 at the home of his daughter, Kathy, in Exeland. He had been cared for by Kathy and her family since moving from Oklahoma in April of this year.
David Garth Jacobs was born June 19, 1926 in Indiana to Walter and Mary (Kring) Jacobs. He served his country in the U.S. Army and after his discharge, was joined in marriage to Patricia Kuhl on August 25, 1946. Before becoming a partner in Jacobs and Walters Realty, he tended bar for many years at Swiss Colony's Rathskeller. Dave's last job in Monroe was "Everyone's Favorite Bartender" at the Junction House. He was later married to Sharon "Tubs" Broge and in 1989, during a visit to his brother's, they bought a house and moved to Porum, OK. An avid golfer, Dave carded three aces in his life. Second only to his love of golf was long trips on his Goldwing. In 2004, at the age of 78 and the odometer at well over 100,000 miles, Dave and his Goldwing made their last trip to Sturgis. He was known to say "I love going places but I just don't like to be there."
Dave is survived by one sister, Lynn Reed; his children, Lynne (Ron) Wood, Mark (Laura) Jacobs, Kathy (Craig) Levellie, Jim Jacobs and Ann (Tom) Kundert; 16 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother Jim; sister Virginia; and his wife "Tubs".
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
